With springtime on the horizon, you’re probably ready to get back in your RV and start camping in the warmer weather. If your camper has been in storage, however, it’s probably not ready to go just yet. At Bobby Combs RV, we want you to make the most of all your spring camping trips. That’s why we compiled a list of helpful tips for getting your rig ready for your next trip.
Inspect Your Rig
The first thing you should do once you remove your camper from storage is give it a thorough cleaning. Then, it’s time to inspect the interior and exterior.
Inspect the Exterior
For the exterior, check the roof. Are there any seams that are cracked or missing sealant? You should also examine the corner and sidewall seams of the RV. You definitely don’t want to experience any water leaks on your first camping trip of the spring!
Inspect the Interior
Once you’re inside, inspect the ceiling, cabinets, and corners. You want to pay special attention to whether or not there are any signs of critter intrusion or water damage. Check all of the appliances to make sure they are still working. Nobody wants to spend their camping trip with no way to cook!
Open Up Your RV
Open up the rig as much as possible. This means opening doors, windows, slide-outs, cabinets, and unrolling the awning too. Examine every surface and look for signs of damage that will need to be addressed. If you covered any vents before the winter, open them back up.
Check the Tires
After inspecting the rig, it’s time to perform some maintenance. Start by checking the air pressure of each tire, ensuring that they are all inflated to the recommended PSI. You should also check for any cracks or visible damage. Don’t skip over this step! There’s nothing worse than heading out on your spring camping trip and having to pull over on the road to fix a tire.
