Camping Recipe: Easy Dutch Oven Mac and Cheese

Mac and cheese is one of the favorite comfort foods around our house. This delicious and easy Dutch oven mac and cheese is the perfect way to fill some bellies without having to think too much about dinner. Get the full camping recipe below.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. elbow macaroni
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 4 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1-2 tbsp. mustard
  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder
  • 5 oz. bag Kettle Brand Jalapeño chips

Instructions

  1. Build a strong campfire and add coals to the fire to heat.
  2. In the Dutch oven, combine the pasta, water, butter, and salt.
  3. Once the coals are hot, cover the Dutch oven and place on the coals. Add 15 coals to the top of the Dutch oven to cook the ingredients evenly.
  4. Cook until the pasta is softened, and most of the liquid is absorbed. Approximately 10 minutes.
  5. Remove the Dutch oven from the heat. Remove the lid, and stir in the cheese, mustard, and garlic powder. Salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Using your hand, crush some of the kettle chips over the top of the mac and cheese and serve hot.
